Session 06

Chip divided chapter three into two sections. Verses 1–2 explain what Christians need to do in terms of proper behavior and verses 3–15 focus on the reasons for why we need to behave in that manner. Previously, we have seen Paul give instruction on behavior (2:1–10), but he appears to broaden his approach in this section. Whereas chapter two dealt with behavior within the church as it related to immediate unbelieving neighbors, chapter three widens the view to that of the potential Christian obedience can have on an unbelieving culture as a whole.
