In the previous session, we looked at Paul’s list of qualifications for elders, qualities meant to characterize those fit to lead a local church. One of those qualities is a devotion to the Word of God such that an elder would be equipped to “rebuke those who contradict it” (v. 9). Why? Because of the false teaching present in and around the church in Crete.
